Walton reported: “Recently, even though shadow boxing the apocalypse, and wandering the land, I arrived on the creation of the planet, and the beginning of hearth. I speedily spiraled spherical and round, and was immediately sucked into the vortex of Hearth On The Mountain —The Movie. It has turn out to be a harmonic convergence of the highest buy, bringing jointly the greatest of the greatest of the best—of all the things, with as good a team of young, dynamic, motion-figure super-heroes, as there is in the identified universe. Like me, they enjoy the edge, mother nature, the groove, rhythm, sport, and the tradition and rhythmic beat of the Grateful Dead. The new young men asked me to talk. I channeled everyone and almost everything I’ve acknowledged in my now 53 years with the Grateful Dead. Mickey Hart, there from the beginning, led a responsive demand to my simply call to action. The result is Hearth On The Mountain—The Film, as great a job and workforce, pushed by wonderful goal and tune, as I have at any time been a element of.”
Improvisation is the silver thread that weaves this movie jointly. Just as the Grateful Useless did not fit their songs into an founded group, this limited film finds a forged of some of the world’s best athletes on an improvisational journey of skiing, snowboarding, browsing, and audio, total with a soundtrack comprised of only Grateful Useless tunes. Shot throughout a snow and surf street vacation, the journey commences in California exactly where the athletes embark on a mission into the mountains. Mid-film finds the cast caught in the remote waters of the North Pole, followed by a psychedelic dreamscape showing as skeletons shredding under the moonlight at Mammoth Mountain, and surfing in Indonesia. Related to a Grateful Useless clearly show, they begin and conclude in the identical location, but each of their respective ordeals is a journey of their possess.
“This is a task of individuals, areas, and conditions all woven jointly, gaining momentum and adapting as Mom Mother nature orchestrates her plans—going with the snow, next the swell,” stated filmmaker Chris Benchetler. “The Grateful Dead’s improvisational type lends alone to that similar move. Allowing a second in time and room consider about, collectively sharing that knowledge, when the music blazes its system. This challenge has been about the appreciation for Earth, self-discovery, open up-mindedness, and the improvisational jam of lifestyle. We’re so thrilled for it to be airing on the house of sporting activities, ESPN.”
