Bexhill’s Cooden Seashore Hotel is sold to international hotelier

The venue, which was previously owned by entrepreneur James Kimber and his spouse Lesley, was obtained by Grace Leo and her Singapore-based companion, transport entrepreneur and resort investor Tim Hartnoll.

It was marketed off a tutorial selling price of £6,900,000 on a freehold foundation.

The Cooden Seashore Resort was crafted in 1928 and has been a landmark feature of the shoreline ever considering that, with its sea views and beachside restaurant.

In September 2019, Mr Kimber verified he and his wife were being preparing to market the four-star 41-bedroom lodge, and had been hoping to uncover a new proprietor who ‘wants to carry on investing’ in it.

News of the sale was confirmed by business enterprise property advisor Christie & Co.

Grace Leo explained: “Once I had observed The Cooden Beach front Resort, I was in awe of its distinctive place and opportunities.

“I have created upscale resort inns in far-off locations like St Barth’s, Mustique and St Jean Cap Ferrat, so my instinct suggests that there is no cause why we simply cannot recreate that idyllic resort expertise in a lodge that’s on the English coast, regardless of the cooler local weather.

“Our options are to create a haven for our company to rest, loosen up and be nourished in a gorgeous seaside location.”

Grace Leo and Tim Hartnoll’s acquisition of The Cooden Seashore Lodge follows on from their new buy of The Red Lion Resort in Henley-on-Thames less than six months in the past. The Purple Lion, which overlooks The River Thames, will re-open as The Relais Henley later on this year, owning been through a full refurbishment method.

Tim Hartnoll is the executive chairman of X-Press Feeders, part of the Sea Consortium team, a international delivery firm centered in Singapore. An avid sailor and rower, who grew up amongst England and Singapore, he is a world-wide trader whose hospitality passions include things like the Bawah Reserve in the Anambas Archipelago in Indonesia.

Christie & Co acted for Mr Kimber, who owned the property for 16 a long time, in the sale of the hotel.
