Why New England journey quarantines differ

Shannon Hardy’s cafe in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, is much less than 800 toes from Attleboro, Massachusetts.

But it may well as well be a globe away for some buyers, who see the state line as an impenetrable barrier thanks to coronavirus-linked travel limits that involve any one returning to the Bay State from Rhode Island to quarantine for 14 days.

“There’s clients who just cannot arrive in any more since they live in Massachusetts,” claimed Hardy, operator of Shannon’s Place, on Broadway. “At least a 3rd of my small business is from South Attleboro.”

Shannon Hardy, owner of Shannon's Place, a diner on Route 1 in Pawtucket near the Attleboro line, whose business has been hit by the travel restrictions.

The pandemic had previously taken absent half her organization, she estimated. The latest travel limits have left her with only a third of what her 30-12 months-aged cafe once had.

When Massachusetts 1st issued its travel limits July 24, it was simple to feel of New England as a solitary spot where interstate journey was straightforward.
